Los verbos irregulares en inglés son los que forman el pasado (Simple Past) y el participio (Past Participle) de manera irregular, es decir, no siguen ninguna norma específica.
Los verbos regulares son fáciles de aprender, simplemente se agrega la terminación ‘-ed‘ al infinitivo para formar el pasado y el participio. Pero las diferentes conjugaciones de los verbos irregulares, deberás de aprendértelas de memoria.

Existen varias técnicas para su aprendizaje, como por ejemplo, hacer uso de reglas mnemotécnicas. Aunque quizá te resulte más divertido hacerlo a través de ejercicios específicos y por supuesto practicándolos en conversación ya que su uso es muy común.
Ten en cuenta que para la tercera persona del singular del presente se comportan como los verbos regulares, añadiendo ‘-s‘.
Ejemplo: Tom buys the grocery with his bank card.
Los verbos ‘to be‘ y ‘to have‘ son la excepción a esta regla.
